Our story starts with a team of people unsatisfied with the current status of the insurance industry. Insurance has become increasingly more complicated and increasingly more expensive. Meanwhile there has been very little growth in systems and processes. Needless to say, the industry needs revision and some good old fashion creative thinking.
After our team spent years at other insurance companies learning the status quo, we started to ask the question, “how can we possibly save our clients money when the rates are the rates are the rates?”.
Thus BetterFit Benefits was born!
The first answer to the question came when our team started to think out of the box, started to think creatively. It began with one strategy derived from mixing tax codes with insurance benefits and has now grown to over 6 new creative cost saving strategies saving our clients on average over 17% on their premiums.
In addition to the costs of insurance, our team also considered the fact that recruitment and retention was the #1 reason companies offered employee benefit packages in the first place. The question all employers should ask themselves is, “how can I retain key employees so I do not have to lose money and time recruiting and training new talent?” The answer is simple, know your benefits package and how it compares to your competitors.
After years of meeting with thousands of business, our team had a couple ironic realizations. First, we realized that an overwhelming majority of employers do not know how their current benefits package compares to that of their competitors and/or industry standard. An employer can lose key employees and have a culture of high turnover if they are not accurately educated on their employee benefits package and their industry climate.
Secondly, we realized that even though the employer can be knowledgable on what to offer, it is equally important to educate the employees thoroughly in a private 1on1 setting. Our firm strives to help our client’s employees thoroughly understand their benefits through a counseling session where they can feel free to ask as many questions needed without feeling rushed, judged or hassled. The overarching goal is for employees to appreciate their benefits package and improve a company’s culture. After all, if employees don’t understand their benefits, how can they be expected to truly appreciate them?
