A Guide to the RxDC Report: What Employers Need to Know
The RxDC (Prescription Drug Data Collection) Report is a federal requirement under Section 204 of the Consolidated Appropriations Act. Each year, insurance providers and employer-sponsored health plans must submit detailed data on prescription drug benefits and healthcare spending to the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS). The deadline for submission is June 1, covering the previous year’s coverage.
What’s Required for the 2025 RxDC Report?
For the 2024 reporting cycle, insurers and employer groups must provide:
- Average monthly premium paid by employees (payroll contributions)
- Average monthly premium paid by the employer (total premium minus employee contributions)
- Employer group details, including legal name and Employer Identification Number (EIN)
This information is submitted via the D1 Template, a key part of the RxDC filing.
How Will Sharp Health Plan Assist Employers?
Sharp Health Plan will contact employers enrolled in 2024 benefits to gather the necessary data. They will handle the D1 Template submission on behalf of employer groups—but only if employers provide the required details by the deadline.
Key Deadlines & Penalties
- April 18, 2025: Employers must submit their data to Sharp Health Plan.
- June 1, 2025: If Sharp does not receive the information by April 18, employers must file directly with CMS by this date.
Failure to comply may result in penalties.
How to Submit Your Data
Employers should use the RxDC Employer Reporting Intake Form, which includes CMS-approved calculation guidelines.
